Week of September 10 to September 16

by ohernand on September 8, 2017

Students are settled in and so is the construction work. As the first couple of weeks of class are now through, everyone (including the renovations taking place on campus) are settled into the routine that will ensue for the rest of the semester. The construction site has made it’s last major fence move opening the area in front of the White Chapel allowing for the Grand Stairs to connect the two levels and allow for more pedestrian traffic.

  • Disney Parking Lot is now complete but some parking spaces will remain closed as the recreational area is being completed. The volleyball courts are being laid out and the basketball hoop and paint will be the finishing touches for the area.
  • Ainsworth Hall is around 50% with large interior work and the roof will be completed shortly.
  • Mack Hall continues with its massive footprint as more and more sections are being poured to complete its foundation.

As of now most of the precautions to be taken involve the movement of heavy equipment on campus and the entrances to construction areas. Avoid these entry points as much as possible as these are points on campus that are constantly meeting traffic conflict.

This week we’d like to invite you to meet and ask questions to part of the massive team of people involved in the development of these renovations around campus. On Wednesday, September 13 representatives of different areas of the construction taking place on campus will be at the Fishbowl lounge on the second level of the Wise Campus Center, this is the lounge adjacent to Harmon Lobby and directly across from the main stairway. The room will be open for any questions you might have from 11:30am to 1:30pm and we hope we can clear up whatever questions or interest you might have. If you can’t make it then feel free to email us at wdam@norwich.edu with any questions, comments or concerns and we will do our best to help.
