Week of August 27 to September 2

by ohernand on August 25, 2017

Classes are starting but construction isn’t stopping. After a long week of pouring, topping, filling and planting; Norwich University continues to develop new areas that will improve the already amazing campus we have. A lot of work has been done that can be easily interpreted as progress while some work continues to advance in areas that are harder to see.

  • Memorial Plaza is almost done with its finishing touches that consist of pouring walkways and planting on the area. At this point, the layout of the plaza can be easily seen but some minor installations taking place later as well as trees and decorative elements being placed soon.
  • Ainsworth Hall is getting back to its usual shape with brick almost done and interior work preparing to pour the slab for the second floor.
  • Mack Hall has gone through an entire week of pouring and the massive footprint of the building can be easily seen since all four of its sides have at least a portion of footings already poured. The building will soon start getting major structural elements installed and slowly start working its way up each floor.
  • Disney Parking Lot is essentially done. What remains is some swale work and drainage around the area as well as developing the volleyball and basketball courts. Parking along the North and East sides has been blocked off for this purpose but the majority of the lot will be open for faculty, staff and commuter students to park.

Please be aware of the construction areas around campus. Even though some projects might be opened to the public not all parts of it are accessible. Some entrances or areas can be closed off and should be respected for your own safety and that of everyone else involved with our community. We will aim towards minimizing the flow of heavy equipment around our campus as well as keeping the dust as reduced as possible but please know that with an active construction site on the heart of our campus elements like noise, dust and traffic can be present. We hope you understand and ask that if you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding any of the projects on campus please contact us at wdam@norwich.edu and we will do our best to help.
